Benjamin Odell's Guide To Runescape

fighting a boss in runescape

Combat

The most simple explanation of Runescape’s combat is just clicking on the enemy and then waiting. The combat in is’t basic form seems a lot like a turn based gain. The internal game engine simulates a sort of dnd style dice roll. First the game rolls your attack dice against the enemy’s defense dice. If your attack die rolls higher than you hit, if their defense rolls higher, you miss.

To make it only a little more complicated. The game is designed around the combat triangle. This is like rock paper scissors. Melee is strong against range. Range is strong against magic. Magic is strong against melee.

This means that depending on the enemy you are fighting you need to make sure you bring the right gear in order to be able to deal with the enemy effectively.
